On the 22nd, eight civilians were taken away by the Indian army in a village in the Poonch region of Indian-administered Kashmir. During the detention, three individuals died, and the remaining five were taken to the hospital. Relatives, upon receiving the bodies, discovered signs of torture. A family member of one of the victims claimed that they were subjected to electric shocks and beatings during the detention, and even chili powder was sprinkled on their private parts! This is truly heinous!

Simultaneously, an online video surfaced showing an Indian soldier sprinkling chili powder on the private parts of a civilian lying on the floor. Local villagers identified the victim as one of those taken away by the Indian army.

The circulation of the video sparked strong local outrage, leading to widespread protest activities in the major city of Srinagar in Indian-administered Kashmir. On the 23rd, Indian authorities cut off internet services in the Poonch and surrounding areas.
